Über die Destination

Cascais ist eine kleine Strandstadt in Portugal an der Küste von Estoril in der Metropolregion Lissabon. Cascais, ehemaliger Wohnsitz der königlichen Familie und Pionier des Tourismus in Portugal, ist eine charmante Stadt. Das von der Bucht und der imposanten Festung dominierte historische Zentrum ist voller architektonischer Schätze mit religiösem, militärischem und zivilem Charakter. Ebenso sehenswert sind die Museen des Meeres, Casa das Histórias von Paula Rego und die Grafen des Stadtmuseums von Castro Guimarães. Cascais ist im Westen von beliebten Stränden wie Guincho Beach und den üppigen Sintra-Bergen im Norden umgeben. Ein Teil seiner Küste ist steil abfallend und zieht Touristen wegen seiner Küstenlandschaften und anderer Natursehenswürdigkeiten wie Boca do Inferno an. Es wird auch ein beliebtes Golfziel, mit mehr als 10 Golfplätzen in der Nähe. Surfen, Segeln, Windsurfen, Kitesurfen und sind auch in der Region um Cascais aufgrund günstiger Wetter-, Wind- und Meeresbedingungen beliebt. 2007 war Cascais offizieller Ausrichter der ISAF-Weltmeisterschaft in der Navigation von Rennbooten und Yachten.
